Runaways Tribute Album!

By Sophie Rae

A few months ago my band recorded a track with guitarist Earl Slick (who has played with David Bowie, John Lennon, and currently The New York Dolls!) called “Saturday Night Special” which was just released by Main Man Records on a Runaways tribute album called Take It Or Leave It- A Tribute to the Queens of Noise: The Runaways. I am so happy with the way the track came out and honored to be part of such an incredible album! Other artists on the album include The Donnas, David Johansen, Kathleen Hanna and Peaches, Shonen Knife, Frankenstein 3000, and many more. Also, in honor of Runaways drummer Sandy West, who lost her fight with cancer in 2006, a portion of the proceeds from the album will be donated to the American Institute for Cancer Research. This is a really special project and everyone should check it out on iTunes, Amazon, or the Main Man Records website!

Here’s our track:

Here are some reviews of the album!

Examiner (they thought that Care Bears on Fire was the name of the track, but it’s still a good review!)

Here is an hour-long special about the album featuring interviews with some of the artists involved (including yours truly!):

Also, Care Bears on Fire will be playing at a release party for the album at the Brighton Bar in Long Branch, NJ on August 12th. It should be a really great night and I hope to see you all there! We will also be playing the release show in NYC- check back for details!
