7th Sound Wave: August 13th

On August 13th, Permanent Wave (Amy Klein’s super-rad feminist organization that we talked about in our interview) will be putting on its 7th Sound Wave show at the Manifesta Loft in Brooklyn (315 Seigel St., Apt 217). The show is a benefit for Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls and my band, Care Bears on Fire, will be playing along with three other awesome bands: Big Nils, Bad Credit No Credit, and Shady Hawkins.

To kick off the show at 8pm, I am organizing a Q&A panel discussion with myself, Amy Klein (of Titus Andronicus and Hilly Eye), and Mindy Abovitz (founding editor of Tom Tom Magazine) as panelists and Emmet Moeller (of Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls) as moderator. We will talk about our experiences as female musicians– what makes it difficult and what makes it awesome! But we need your questions. Post your questions on here as comments or send them to grrrlbeat@gmail.com and come be a part of the conversation on August 13th!
